3 Home Design Ideas With the Color of 2018

December 27, 2017

Pantone’s Color of the Year is now announced. This is the defining moment that sets the tone for the upcoming year design trends. As we all remember, last year’s color was a bright yellow-green color – called Greenery. Upcoming 2018 year’s pick is a rich and luxurious ultra violet, celestial shade of purple. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, defines purple as a rich color with transcendent associations: “It’s often associated with mindfulness practices, so it has that spiritual or mystical quality that’s attached — a little bit of magic that’s inferred in the color.”

One can only imagine all the creative conversations and activity happening now in all the fashion houses and paint companies .

Ultra violet is not an easy color, so we’ve collected several helpful tips for using 2018’s color in the interior design.

            1.Accent it!

Whether it’s a few sprigs of lilac in a jar, a vintage violet door knob, or a rug with a few violet threads in it, the easiest way to start decorating with a new color is to take small steps.

      2. Blend it with other purples, pinks, and blues.

If ultra violet is way too bold for you, try to blend it with other soft colors from the same family – lilac, blush, mauve, blue, etc. While working with these colors Ultra Violet will become less loud and will get more cozy and comfy.

       3. Embrace the darkness.

Dark and romantic, purple is easily combined with other supersaturated dark colors and rich fabrics. Think leather, velvet, and dark-colored woods.
